Meet the band:
Joe Akinskas - Bass Guitar, Trumpet
Joe is the leader of the band. Memories is his "baby." He has his BA-MA in Music Education with Conducting specialization from Glassboro State College. He is currently the Cumberland County College Band Director/Adjunct Professor, and Rowan University Adjunct Professor in Music Education/Clinical Practice.
Joe boasts a vast career spanning over 40 years as a Public School Music Educator, having taught in several NJ districts including Millville, Haddonfield and Cherry Hill (as an administrator of music).
His performance history includes: The Cavaliers and Mainline wedding bands,
The Wind Symphony of Southern New Jersey, and Brass Consort Quintet.
Sue Mark - Keyboard, Instrumental, Vocals
John Masino - Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar
Sue has over 30 years of musical experience as an educator and performer. She currently teaches band and orchestra in the Cherry Hill, NJ, public schools. Sue also performs in local high school pit orchestras, has guest conducted several honors ensembles including the New Jersey Jr. High Orchestra and Band, and the New Hampshire Southeast Distrcit Middle School Orchestra. She currently serves as the All State Orchestra auditions chair and co-coordinator of The NJMEA-sponsored Summer Workshop.
This summer, she will take on the new position as a Rock N Roll Chorus Jr. coach.
Her role in Memories is as the main keyboard player and back up vocals, but sometimes she throws in a little flute and sax when the spirit moves her.
John has over fifty years performing in the tri state area. Starting in 1968 with the club band, "Reflections." Then from 1972 thru 1990 he performed in the wedding/dance bands "Cavaliers" and "Main Line.". From 1997 to the present, John performs with various classic rock cover bands performing in local bars, taverns and festivals.
Suzanne Zerone - Lead Vocals
Suzanne Zerone, soprano, is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and Rowan University, and has been a Music Educator and Performer in New Jersey for over 30 years. She has been the lead vocalist in many bands, including the band Magic, with her husband, Tim. Throughout her career, Suzanne has also appeared as soprano soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Delaware Valley Symphony, the Westfield Symphony, the Pottstown Symphony, the Greater South Jersey Chorus and Orchestra, the New Jersey Philharmonic, the Ocean City Pops, the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, the Kennett Square Symphony, and the Delaware Opera Symphony. She recently sang with The Ocean City Pops in 2017 on New Year’s Eve as part of the First Night celebration in Ocean City. Suzanne currently teaches Choir and Orchestra at a local High School in the Haddonfield area and will be singing lead vocals for the band Memories.
